This record, is about heaven. It began life as a remake of my favourite piece of music, which is Alice Coltrane's 'Journey Into Satchidananda', but ended up turning into something else when I hooked up with Khensy in Joburg. The Soweto mix, was what came first, a jazz waltz - the house remix came later. It's especially dedicated to so many friends whose loved ones have been departing this world. The phrase rest in peace, is something that we might say as much to ourselves who remain here, as in reference to those we miss. May we find peace and happiness and comfort and find some way through our sadnesses in such times... Unlike the last single, Selfish Skies, this is not one of those songs with verses and bridges and all that stuff. It's all summed up in just in one simple phrase that Khensy came up with. "I know a place where we all belong, in the sunrise".... if you don't know the Alice Coltrane track that inspired this, please, do check it out! I don't think we have made anything quite as special as that, but I did the best I could , which is all any of us can. The job is made so much easier by the other great people that are Warm Days. Without Peter, Khensy, and Moses this wouldn't be possible. I hope you like it. (QB, September 2011).
