Dutch newcomer Poko poko makes his debut on Monologues Records with a fine pair of plumply-produced, intricate, vivid tracks. ‘Dynamite Man’ has all the authentic hallmarks of classic UK 4/4 garage, with tightly chopped, swinging drums and some tasty switch-ups where the bass ups the intensity. ‘Guruvin’ is a chunky romp through backwards pads, heavenly pitched-up vocals and languid bass grooving, while label boss Ben Gomori’s remix turns it into something altogether more epic with rasping electro bass and dreamy stabs.
