Silent Koalas recently investigated ancient ruins deep within the jungle. These ruins contained untold secrets shielded behind the deadbolt lock of an ancient door. These mysteries were partially unearthed in the form of the Dead Bolt EP from American DJ and producer PhuturePhil. This release also includes a stellar remix from French DJ and producer WillowMan.
Dead Bolt is a stripped down track that focuses on the essence of deep and minimal house. Sparse and precise percs start things off as PhuturePhil introduces a wide chord stab. Rising atmospheric pads add movement and richness to the texture of the track. A haunting vocal stalks every element of the mix to constantly remind you of the unknown hiding behind the locked door. As the track breaks down, an echoing synth melody interacts with the moody and crescendoing pads before each element is bottled back inside the kick and percussion focused groove.
WillowMan presents a club focused interpretation for the Dead Bolt EP. The tempo is picked up as several familiar elements from the original track are fused with a driven drum track. The familiar echoes and new melodic lines meld together as WillowMan moves each element in and out of focus. A twisting and cosmic tinged synth line floats through the breakdown which briefly calms the track. This calm is concluded by a fusion of every ingredient that ensures WillowMan's remix is a surefire dancefloor winner.
