Often, the amount of time needed for things to ripen is not easy to manage and understand. Six years after Leda Valladares' death, and almost two years after publishing our project, Fertil Discos (Argentina) and Folcore (Barcelona) present the first single of our coming album El Camino de Leda, revisiting the music she recorded and saved from being lost forever, in her epic journey of musicology and research. 12 songs, recorded by electronic producers and guest singers, will bring her work and legacy back into life.
In this case, Chancha Via Circuito, an electronic producer who has been (with great success) working with coplas and canto con caja for a while, generated a simple but powerful atmosphere, to surround Shaman Herrera's singing, a unique voice which sounds as if it belonged to many people and periods of time. Following the project's guiding principle, the original song's form and melody, as it was recorded by Leda, was fully respected. Chancha and Shaman only added a musical base, and also respected the presence of the caja, the key element for rhythm and singing in this ancestral music.
El Camino de Leda will soon be inviting us to its next step, this time the song recorded by Tremor and Soema Montenegro. The full album, which will come out in digital and vinyl editions, will contain tracks from El Remolon, Barbara Silva, King Coya, Sofia Viola, San Ignacio, Lauphan, Pol Nada, Jin Yerei, Dat Garcia, Jazmin Ezquivel, Barda, Celeste, Uji and Charo Bogarin.
CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO is a musician and producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, whose work blends electronic music with latin american rooted rhythms and sounds. Having toured around the world for the past decade, he's obtained a great recognition, both at local and international level.
