Cubism is back with a wicked release from an artist who we have supported almost exclusively since we first heard their music a few years ago. Subk0de is the alter ego of Electronic Youth and we have loved everything we've been lucky to hear and release from him over that time as he explores a much darker, sleazier and at times eccentric sound under this alias. The two tracks on offer here are aimed at discerning, open minded dark rooms. Think room 3 fabric. Both are an invitation to get lost in low slung grooves which are impossible to resist. The first track 'Ghetto' offers a solid house beat which incorporates a tripped out vocal teasing the vibe along, underpinned by a dubbed out, meandering, groovy bass line. A dark, mysterious, cinematic synth only adds to the creeping tension. 'Vapour Trails' comes from a different angle, working a more percussive vibe around a lazy low slung beat which does promise sunshine at first ahead of delivering a melancholic, hypnotic house hook which takes centre stage stirring emotion in all the right places as it flows. You can tell this is the work of a great dance music producer having fun.
