Blackened

Messiahwaits

Ameniia
AM008 | 2018-10-15
Based in Seoul, the fast-rising Ameniia records has been knocking techno gems out of the park, including the most recent Baikal EP by Polarfront and TELSTAR EP by founder Marcus L.

Continuing to break Korean artists onto the world stage is their latest release 'Blackened' by Messiahwaits, who learnt his musical chops in Berlin while living there in 2013 before returning to Seoul.

Three tremendous dark, hurtling and cavernous tracks plus one atmospheric tool wrap up techno with a distinctive Seoul bow. Opening the EP, the droning and almost spiritually meditative title track, 'Blackened', carries reveberations of an Easterly wind that can only be produced by an artist of the origin. 'Distorted Coefficient' screws in the drive harder underground, with a disorientating, hallucination-inducing atonal breakdown of chimes gone awry.

'The Dark Sacred Night' rides hard - a racing heartbeat on a drugged fuelled road of destruction, twisting and turning with flashes of mysticism before running into emptiness. The atmospheric tool 'Synesthesia Part I' ebbs and rises with expertly subdued emotion and as a closing piece, hints at the next chapter to be revealed.

About Messiahwaits

Messiahwaits treats techno music as an artform rather than a musical genre exploring a scope that surpasses functional dancefloor-tools. With a few releases yet out, the Berlin-brewed Korean producer illustrates his own sounds with the vision of droning atmospheres and repetitive jacking rhythms that can be presented through a darker, more disturbed path.
