Jee Bear and Lucien Le Grub join forces on their Piston Recordings debut with a trio of tech house stompers titled Caripotawa EP. Jee Bear got into music at an early age as a rock drummer in the Dominican Republic. As he grew up he was introduced to the psychedelic world experienced in the 1960s and 70s and to the music of bands like The Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Who, Pink Floyd and The Doors to name a few. His passion for music and love for classic rock eventually led him to Disco and ultimately to House. In 2008 as he felt his voice wasn't being heard by his bandmates and he decides to go solo. After years of self-exploration in 2011 he resurfaces with a DJ act playing in local bars and clubs. Now in 2018 he is a DJ and Producer with upcoming releases on labels like Smiley Fingers and Yet! Records. As a promoter he has greatly influenced the Dominican dance music culture by both supporting local talent and billing world renown DJs in his dance music events. Co-founder of Dominican based label Tanama Records and with the mind set on owning his own club someday. Lucien Le Grub is a name that has consistently emerged from the burgeoning house and techno scene in recent times. If we talk about a versatile and fresh artist we should talk about this Argentinean DJ and producer. Over the years he has shared the stage with many top jocks and is currently one of the most respected DJ's in the Dominican Republic. Whether it's in the DJ booth or in the studio, his skills are remarkable and attractive and he has a gift to take the crowd on a journey through the deepest part of music.

Caripotawa is a raucous tech house joint that lends itself to a solid, beautifully arranged rhythmic groove. Right from the off we are locked in as the infectious rhythm takes hold. The bassline rocks the low end, providing the platform for the fantastic multi-layered drum section to shine. Cool spoken vocals, hypnotic chords and a pure driving groove are just the tonic to keep the floors rocking well into the night.

La Estancia intros with a nice chunky kick drum and classic style analogue basslines. The tech house flavour drips off the groove effortlessly while a deep spoken vocal adds character to the sound. Big and brash synth stabs pop up sporadically as warm chords feed into the soul. After the break the analogue bass is joined by a superb, plucky bass that adds an extra layer of depth to the groove. Excellent stuff that will not disappoint.

Wrath rounds up this threesome and does so with a much pacier signature that ramps up the energy levels just a little bit. Punchy kick drums lead the way before a monster bassline takes over alongside an equally monstrous spoken vocal that adds a level of darkness to the groove. In contrast to the lower frequencies we find melodic pads in the midst of the darkness. The break is a wonderful sequence where the spectrum is filled with a maelstrom of sound before we're thrust out the other end and back into full on mode for the duration.
