Belgian artists with a strong and unique sound, Pedro Mercado and Karada have an impressive history in dance music between them. Returning to Particles, they now present their debut original EP in the shape of "Parallel Universe".

Established artists in their own right, Pedro Mercado and Karada have become renowned for their impressive production work as a collaborative duo. As a DJ, Mercado's performances in Berlin, Amsterdam and Barcelona for the likes of ADE and Sonar Off, have seen him established on the international circuit while a host of radio shows have seen him reach a global audience with his intricately programmed sets. Production work has seen the duo reach considerable heights, with Karada's work for Lost Language seeing his music played on BBC Radio 1 as well as being remixed by Markus Schulz and Robert Nickson. Together, Mercado and Karada have found work for Parquet, Kling Klong and Natura Viva hit the Beatport chart on regular occasions and "Behind the Sun" for the latter, remixed by globally renowned producer, Rodriguez Jr.

A remix of Huminal for Proton Music in January 2016 saw the duo remix "Doomwatcher" with trademark aplomb, while a March 2018 reworking of Deasaturate and Forniva's "Unite" saw a welcome debut on Particles. Now returning to the label, the title track is a storming offering that kicks like a mule with huge beat and syncopated offbeat percussive flair. A gently repeating piano motif supplies immediate sonic warmth while strings and further piano sequences provide moments of counterpoint skill and verve. Building into the third movement with energy and dynamism, "Parallel Universe" is the perfect illustration of Mercado and Karada's sound.

Partner track, "Honolulu" immediately delights with its dub chord structure that sits perfectly between intricately programmed percussive claves and stuttered 808-style rimshots. Evolving effortlessly, a rippling arpeggio filters into aural range before changing key in open-filtered glory to create a moment of sonic intrigue. A strong kick, tight snare and white-noise effects keep the rhythm section fully to the fore as melodic elements wax and wane with consummate ease. Rising and falling throughout, Pedro Mercado and Karada's skill is to create a sonic journey that epitomises their own unique style and sound.

Able to shine brightly with their unique and innovative music, Pedro Mercado and Karada are set to find even greater success in their "Parallel Universe".
