Baba Batteur was originally released in 2005 on the ekosound label between ekostar/sound ways records only on vinyl when 2000 copies were printed and consequently sold out in two weeks. The track featuring the legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen sang in English and French lyrics and a re-mix provided by Quantic on the B-side was an instant hit providing the afrobeat genre with its first crossover hit on the dance floor. the track made various appearances on compilation albums of Afrobeat in mid-2000. Barbara Snow on lead vocals and trumpet while the track was produced by Kayode Samuel. Also featuring on the track is former Fela Kuti Egypt 80 band and Femi Kuti positive force Dele Sosimi keyboardist and Femi Ellis on bass.
