Ghetto-tech purveyor Torrfisk drops latest single 'Ego' on SOUP NYC: a sleazy, jackin original backed up with punchy remixes from Ciszak and Shadow People.
With previous outings on Dirtybird, Apollo Music Group and Sampled Detroit, Torrfisk has made a name for himself with his gritty, singular production style, something that is in full effect on this new single for SOUP NYC.
'Ego' is by turns frantic, glitchy and hypnotic. Driven along on a powerful 4/4 beat with shuffling hats and a downpitched vocal, it's the kind of dirty screwface record that every house sets needs.
Ciszak's remix is similarly raw, but bouncier and aguruably a little more accessible than the darkness of the original, while Shadow People smooth out some of the rough edges for a rolling, deep-tech dancefloor workout. All in all it's another powerful package from a label that continues to deliver the goods.
