Originally appearing on Forescape Digital's "Interfered Volume I" compilation in March 2018, Gordey Tsukanov produced a moment of trance magic with his "Last Step Before Heaven." With supersaw waveforms and rippling delays in full evidence, Yin and Yang now revisit Tsukanov's work with a pair of new remixes from Canadian and Russian talents.
A Russian artist with support from the likes of Oakenfold, Chicane, Roger Shah and Gai Barone, Katrin Souza has courted success with a raft of original and remix production material. With some 300 credits to her name, Souza has worked with some of the finest trance and progressive house imprints that include Enhanced, Silk Music and Intricate Records. A regular on Yang with a pair of 2015 remixes for Fran Von Vie's "Road to Los Angeles" and Scotty.A's "The Way She Smiles," a May 2017 reworking of March 13's "Flight of Ideas" with fellow Russian Andrew Benson continued to demonstrate Souza's impressive talent.
Now returning for a fourth outing on the label, the Katrin Souza remix of "Last Step Before Heaven" is a beautifully melodic, driving affair that takes the central sequence of Tsukanov's original and elevates it into a new melodic direction with Souza's own unique production technique. A rippling arpeggio adds further sonic intrigue as a gently pulsating lead and mule-like kick add power and dance-floor prowess in an intelligently crafted remix full of skill and sensitivity.
