MARTÍN Y CORAZÓN
Martín Y Corazón are two friends and NYC DJ's hailing from sunny Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. They have been part of Brooklyn's underground community for over a decade. Martín, co- founder of Golden Record NYC, and Sir-Siljian, a staple in the mid 2000's minimal scene (Minimoo, Resolute, MnmlKtchn, etc.) combine to form MYC. Ultimately, their love of House Music and the spirit of 90's New York brought these two friends back together from when they first met as teens at a punk rock show in the D.R. two decades ago.
In late 2019, they came together to throw a short lived DIY bi-weekly party in an unassuming Ridgewood loft, called Midnight Boogie. Their party was a place that allowed them to express themselves musically with their friends, without any expectations from promoters, clubs, or venues. After the pandemic hit, they needed to wrap up the loft and decided to continue making music together. Once the world slowly started coming back to life, they began another event at the Bogart House in Brooklyn, called MISBEHAVE. It was here where they began spinning the music they created for the public.
Martín Y Corazón are best known for their highly energetic and eclectic sets. House & Techno, Disco, Afro, and Tech-House are just some of the styles they seamlessly weave in and out of their tunes. Just like their selections, they keep an open mind with music production incorporating sentimental Latin dance roots. No matter which way it's leaning, it remains encompassed in classic House.
For the last two years, MYC has been building their music catalog. They found local success through a slew of self-released tracks on Bandcamp. Their current collection consists of two EP releases in 2022 on Miami/Berlin based label, Hatching Creatures: Get Up, ft. a remix by Alexi Delano, and Tu Tempo. Siberian based HIVE LABEL is releasing MYC's first disco edit single, Etta's Theme, in December of 2022. They also released a track named Mujer on a various artist compilation on Costa Rican based label, Casa Club Records. They are slated for a spring release in 2023 with King Street Sounds, one of the most respected independent dance music labels in NYC, and are anticipating their own release with Casa Club Records in the spring of 2023
