Gabriel Rodriguez (Nuyoshi Music) aka Gabriel Rican Rodriguez is considered as a legend of the Chicago Latino House Scene. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, he made quite a name for himself and was headlining at various House Music concerts & events with the likes of: Ralphi Rosario, Mario Smokin Diaz, Mike Hitman Wilson, Bad Boy Bill, Fast Eddie, Tyree Cooper, Rich Martinez, CZR, DJ Sneak, Georgie Porgie and Derrick Carter, to name a few. In 89, his first record label appearance came on "Lost in Bass - Bass Boyz" released by Hot Jams Records (licensed by: DiKI in Belgium, UK & Kool Kat Records in California, USA) where he showcased his trademark scratches. He then hit the airwaves by being a Resident DJ on Chicago Radio WCYC along with several special guest spots on B-96, WCRX, RADIO ARTE & WIIT. His first remix came in 98' on "We Came To Party - 4XSample" on Skribe Records.
Gabriel Rodriguez was one of the main DJ's of the historical "Club 720" in the heart of River North downtown Chicago, along with DJ Ricky Agujita Perez, as it was voted as the Best Latin Night Club in 97' by Chicago Reader Magazine. In 2002, Gabriel along with partners Dave Dirzo, Devastating Dennis and DJ Fila produced a deep sultry house song "Krazy feat Nature Love" on Nuyoshi Records that earned global recognition by charting and getting rave reviews on many publications. The song made the Legendary Grammy Award winning producer, Frankie Knuckles top 10 list in Ministry of Sound Magazine. Gabriel also has worked with bass guitarist Mike Saxon from Nite Life Collective on some projects while working at Sam Ash Music. In 2003, he had the opportunity to showcase his skills on the TV show called "Hot Wax" hosted by Chris Devins. Around this time, he also produced a deep house remix of "Life is Good" from South African singer/actress KB Motsilanyane who had a cameo appearance in the movie "Ali" that featured Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Jon Voight, Mario Van Peebles & Jada Pinkett Smith. This remix was distributed by Universal in SA.
In 2006, Gabriel traveled to Miami to spin for the Calle Ocho Fest. Later that year, he became a resident DJ for Univision Radio in Chicago (La Kalle, Latino Mix and Maximo) and has opened up for Latin Grammy Award winning artists such as Wisin y Yandel, Pitbull and Don Omar, to name a few. In 2017, Gabriel Rodriguez was asked to showcase his talents to spin at the Villa La Joya mansion in El Playa Del Carmen, Quintana Roo Mexico. After a long layoff from music production, in 2022 he decided to get back to doing what he loves to do. In 2024, Gabriel headlined at the monumental Navy Pier on Lake Shore Drive for the Wav Wall Wax, in downtown Chicago, celebrating 40 years of Latinos in the House Music scene. In the same year, he also received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions in House Music and Battle DJing within the Latin communities called the "Latin Living Legends Award" presented by Greg Vargas. He then appeared as a special guest DJ on Da Booth Radio Show broadcasted on Chicago Radio 88.9 FM.
Currently, Gabriel Rodriguez has been a leading figure in the Afro Latin House movement in Chicago. His music production are on labels such as: GrooveBom Records (Italy), Onako Records (Serbia), Wope Records (Venezuela), Native Music Recordings (UK), Kinich Music (Mexico), Electric Friends Music (Germany), Head Vibe Records (NY, USA) Chicago Skyline Records (Chicago, USA) and soon much more to come!
