Chiffon Zoo

Neo Soul Future Soul Collective Chiffon Zoo is not your average musical act. The project was started by Rona Ray, Lee and Paul, 3 talented artists who managed to build a unique bond that goes beyond music. Lee and Paul had been collaborating for years, and they connected with Rona Ray through Instagram! They would often spend many hours just talking about all type of things, especially during the infamous lockdown of 2020! Instagram was a great platform for them to interact, and eventually, not only their friendship grew even stronger, but also a new project was born, as they also took the opportunity to exchange some demos back and forth, and this was the basis of Chiffon Zoo!

The name of the project has a very interesting story too. The word "Chiffon" is a reference to Rona's grandmother's surname, which denotes her Jewish heritage. In addition to that, Rona's grandmother's apartment, now owned by Rona, happens to be near a zoo, hence the second word, "Zoo!"

Interestingly, Paul and Lee have been close friends and production collaborators for many years now, but they have never met Rona in person, despite being such prolific musical partners!

Rona Ray, originally from Kaliningrad, Russia, is a soulful vocalist and a talented singer with a unique background. She has performed on many top-10 hits on another download site & Traxsource, and she has also worked with influential artists such as Terry Hunter, Atjazz and more. In addition to that, she enjoyed the support of some of the biggest names in the global scene, including the legendary Louis Vega from MAW.

Lee & Paul, on the other hand, are used to working together, as they have been producing music together ever since 2005, with a strong focus on Soulful house. Recently, they also started to explore other genres and creative ideas, such as Downtempo and Neo Soul vibes. One of their musical projects is known as the alias "Tannoy Kid," with music signed to Kenny Dope's NYC label "Dope Wax."

Chiffon Zoo's musical influences are incredibly diverse: The pair quotes artists as diverse as H.E.R, J Dilla, Hiatus Kiayote, Flying Lotus, Tom Misch, and Jordan Rakei, only to mention a few. With such a wide range of inspirations, the possibilities are truly endless!
