JEAN MICHEL SCHOBER
Jean Michels Club-music debut was a highly innovative perspective of tech house in 1996, “Junior Disko Vol. I - IV”, which got widely hyped and supported as “Record of the month” by Frontpage and Groove Attack magazines. Collaborating the same year with Cheap member Umberto Gollini on their future electro definition as Defcon, their first EP went to be a local hit in Detroit and Chicago, blessed by the support of no-one else than Jeff Mills himself.
Until 1998 Jean Michel was djing, producing and performing live alongside Artists like Jeff Mills, Patrick Pulsinger, Dennis Ferrer, Baby Ford, DJ Hell, Autechre, Le Car, Richard Dorfmeister and many more, followed by a Club residency in 1999 and working as an engineer for a local Movie post production Studio in Beijing until 2000.
Back in Vienna for the second time he got in touch with the viennese Jazz scene and combined their aesthetics with U.S. Hiphop beats influenced by N.E.R.D and Timbaland in 2003. Jean Michel landed a huge airplay smasher on indie radio-stations like FM4 with his still unreleased Song called “Loveless Soul”.
In 2010 Jean Michel wrote and produced a 70s soul-funk disco album for Louie Austen with Remixes by Frittenbude, Christopher Just, Martini Brös, Ian Pooley, Eric d´Cark, years before another 70s disco revival. Robert Owens, Richard Dorfmeister and many more supported his follow up Disco Edits as Solidfool, WeMeanDisco!! and La Venta. These EPs claimed #1 on main sales chart at the worldwide leading Edit Distributor Juno Download.
Jean Michel Schober started ghostwriting in 2015 and achived best performing tracks at another download site for artists like Lorenzo Al Dino, 7th District and for his latest collaboration with Modul Kollektiv, who convinced Jean Michel to step out of the shadows and introduce himself as Jean Michel Schober. In just three month of collaboration they managed to publish a couple of releases on labels like Moonbootica´s Moonbootique, Nervous Records N.Y. or Tube & Berger´s Zehn Records in 2020.
