ANDY LAKEY & JOHN STEEL

West central Scotland production duo Andy Lakey and John Steel started working together having met initially at Groove City.

With them both spending their formative clubbing years buying records and consuming a musical diet of everything from funky house to euphoric trance. In the digital age however with tastes refining and with tempos mellowing the pair found that on embarking on studio projects the fusion of a nod to the past with a foot in the present has allowed them to develop a portfolio of tracks that offer the classic house sounds - pianos, vocals, saxophones. Mixed with the tough, deep and the tribal vibes that are prominent today.

Collectively endorsements have came from leading tastemakers including Kenny Dope, Pete Tong, Todd Terry, Judge Jules, Graeme Park and Benny Benassi - all of whom have radio aired Andy Lakey and John Steel tracks both individually, together and often with regular co-producers Canada’s Ian Campbell and Londoner Stolen Soul.

This has been possible due to the support of the leading labels that have picked up on the sound - Dopewax, Tommy Boy Records, Let There Be House, Motion and Pukka Up to name but a few.

No slouches behind the decks either Andy Lakey and John Steel between them have graced the sound systems at some of Britain and Ibiza’s finest events, from Gigalum in Clapham to Streetrave in Glasgow. These guys believe that music should be made with freedom, passion and without being formulaic - but that said tracks should work for the DJs and for the dance floor.
