BLINDSMYTH

Simon Schmidt, also known as Blindsmyth, is a musical globetrotter. Since 2014 he has been a Berlin based producer and live act who thrives in the electronic music scene. His live sets are a voyage of discovery between deep electronic soundscapes and experimental pop music.

Blindsmyth's musical fundament was developed throughout his early years as a child. After completing his composer-, music- and studio production degree in the Netherlands, he started to explore sound and space in order to create something new. His sound spectrum ranges from impulsive and groovy to experimental and dreamy. Although his sound resonates with the likes of DJ Koze, Moderat, Bonobo, Burial, Four Tet, Thom Yorke, and Stimming, his music cannot be labeled or limited to one niche.

After almost two years of hard work, in and out of the studio, Blindsmyth released his first EP 'Secret Walls' in March 2016, followed by his debut album 'Blind' in 2018 - both on his Berlin based home label Cosmic Society. Each track on the album tells a story, using numerous field recordings. Essentially, the album is a collage of emotional and musical moments in his life as an artist.

Not much has changed in his approach to music on his EP 'Frozen' which has been released on Diynamic Music in 2019. Using his field recordings from a trip to the Baltic Sea last winter, Blindsmyth has based the EP on this frozen landscape. Still dabbling in organic beats and hypnotizing vocals, the essence of Blindsmyth is present as ever on the three tracks.

In order to immerse Blindsmyth's live audience into his music, he designs and builds his own instruments and controllers. This allows him to recreate sounds and techniques that are apparent in his music, and enables him to bridge the gap between the musical inspiration in the form of sound, musical creation and his live performances.

His latest Single was released on Connaiseeur Recordings in May 2020. "The beauty of this track is its ultimate easiness, even though it is full of edgy moments and elements.
