CRICCO CASTELLI
With a career spanning 30 years in the frenetic universe of house, garage and tropical melodies exists one of Romes favourite sons: Cricco Castelli, the orchestrator of auditory journeys that would make even the most stoic wind their waists and stomp their feet. His deep understanding of the dance floor is rivalled only by his passion for the craft. Most at home where the walls rumble with bass and the air shimmers with rhythm, this is where Cricco reigns supreme, here, he concocts sets that blend deep electric grooves with futuristic beats, driving the floor with energy and atmosphere turning sound waves into irresistible interstellar adventures.
Djing always came first for Cricco and it was at the beginning of 1994 when he moved from Rome to London to set up his studio to produce his own material. After two years hard work his pivotal moment arrived with the seminal release: 'Life is Changing' which was swiftly signed by Kult Records NYC, this record received huge acclaim and rightfully cemented his name in the scene. As a result, he received bookings at some of Londons finest clubs at the time like the End, The Cross, Heaven, Plastic People and Mass. His reputation quickly grew and found himself playing for legendary clubs all over the UK such as Back to Basics, Lakota, Unity and Cream. By 1998, Cricco was taken on by Cream Management resulting in him playing in Ibiza at Pacha, Café del Mar, Manumission, Amnesia, Café Mambo and Bar M. During his busy schedule he continued producing records at a super human rate, tracks like 'Escape from Rome' on NRK, 'Life is Changing Again' on Kult Records 'A Day in Copacabana' on JBO 'From Russia with Phunk" on BlackJack and 'Casa del Jazz' on Soulfuric becoming staples on charts around the world. Again the bookings came him taking him further afield playing in the US, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and Europe.
Fast forward to 2024 and Cricco finds himself after a hiatus from the scene, fully immersed once again in what he loves: making music, championing the sound of house and keeping the dance floor bumping! With releases already out on Roger Sanchez' Stealth Records, Peppermint Jam, Moody House and Hard Times, as well as numerous collaborations ongoing and radio shows. 2024 will be the year that Cricco Castelli makes a more than welcome return to our speakers and on our dance floors.
