THE ILLUSTRIOUS BLACKS

YoHoMo described The Illustrious Blacks live show perfectly: "Self-proclaimed Afro-Electro-Disco-Space-Punks, The Illustrious Blacks are unlike anything you've ever experienced. Part DJ set, part dance performance, part Studio 54, part Berlin underground, this NY couple know how to put on a SHOW!" With inspiration from Prince, Grace Jones, David Bowie and George Clinton, The Illustrious Blacks have a mission to fuse funk, house, techno and disco into their own electrifying and transcendental performances.

As the result of a viral DJ set, The Illustrious Blacks garnered international fame and find themselves touring Asia, Australia, Europe, the UK and Canada, with bookings in iconic venues like Sydney Opera House (House of Mince), Ministry of Sound, Hi Ibiza (Glitterbox) and major music festivals like Roskilde, Splore and Milkshake. Collaborations include: Seven Davis Jr, remixes by Osunlade, Luke Soloman (Beyonce), Russell Small (Freemasons), Nickodemus, Tedd Patterson, as well as their own solo projects on Defected Records/Classic Music Company.

They have expanded their creativity to music production and remixing including a remix release of Jody Watley's uplifting song "Everlasting" featuring a version produced by Amara Jaguar and the dynamic duo themselves. They are also currently working on their debut album of ballroom inspired, cunty house tracks, psychedelic funk and new breed/honey sweet pop to be released in 2025.

OUT NOW - is VELOCITY EP (Soul Clap Records) - Bold, genre-defying, and rooted in liberation, the four-track release takes listeners on a journey through Electro, Disco, House, Afrobeats, and Soul– resulting in an expansive celebration of Black Queer identity.
