BARNABY BRUCE
Barnaby started out DJing and playing percussion on the London dance-music scene in the early 90's, recording with Essa on Paper Recordings. He then travelled the world to study Afro-Latin percussion with numerous greats from New York to Cuba.
He's recorded for the Bear Funk label in London, and with Max Essa (Is It Balearic?, Jansen Jardin) in Tokyo. Barnaby released the 12 'This Time Around' in 2014 to critical acclaim from Bill Brewster and Test Pressing amongst others, and his music has also been released on Swedish label Born Free Records.
In 2014, Barnaby launched vinyl record label 'Palms & Charms', which will see releases in 2015 from Max Essa and Masanori Ikeda. Also this year, he has collaborations with Drop Out Orchestra and Pete Herbert in the pipeline.
In his current home of Hong Kong, Barnaby has DJed, or been resident percussionist, at many of the top venues in the city. He's also co-leader of 9-piece Afro-Cuban group Banda Orbita.
