Dafunkeetomato (aka Tomas Olchove) has always been influenced by disco, funk, and the early days of hip hop from the 70's and 80's. These styles were the building blocks that shaped his musical tastes when he began his journey as DJ Tomas in the mid-1990s. He was attracted to the sounds of funky breaks and disco house from cats like Eric Davenport, Armand Van Helden, Olav Basoski, DJ Dan, Bad Boy Bill, Dimitri from Paris, and Derrick Carter, as well as fellow Canadian DJs Slim, Ali, Czech, and Domenic G. In 1997 he landed his first residency and by 1999 he had built up a solid reputation as a disco DJ who could lay down incredible sets behind the wheels of steel. Seamless mixing, impeccable track selection, slick scratching and an energetic stage presence were his trademark.

In 2014, Tomas decided to channel his style and energy behind the decks into creating his own music. His sound is tailored to match the vibe of his DJ sets, hard and funky filtered disco. He has released music on multiple international labels, including Ammo Recordings, Pocket Jacks Trax, Jack’s Kartel Records, Whitebeard Records, Frosted Recordings, Spincat Music, and Disco Balls Records, just to name a few. His tracks have been charted and played by some of the biggest names in the game, such as Stacy Kidd, Joey Chicago, Iban Montoro, C. Da Afro and many more. He has received warm praise and support, and has worked alongside some of the world’s best house producers in the game today such as Felipe Avelar (Ammo Recordings, Moody Recordings, InStereo Recordings), Angelo Ferreri (Mood Funk Records, Fogbank, Guesthouse Music), Milty Evans (Whitebeard Records, Farris Wheel Recordings), DJ Tripswitch (Mood Funk Records, Disco Future Records, Tasty Recordings), and Rueben Naess (Pocket Jacks Trax, Hi! Reaction, Body Movin Records).

Dafunkeetomato’s first release of 2017 was the "Disco Fever" EP on Spincat Music which reached #18 on the Top 100. In March, his track “These Sounds” which was released on Pocket Jack’s Trax reached #3 on the Traxsource Top 100. In July, his track "Do It" came out on Chicago-based label Whitebeard Records which hit #1 on the Traxsource Top 100 and remained there for weeks. Dafunkeetomato has had eight releases for the year so far, seven of which hit the Top 20 on Traxsource and other major sites. He has most recently completed a remix of “Wanna Talk To You” for legendary San Francisco-based DJ and producer Demarkus Lewis, released on Montreal-based label Frosted Recordings. Having numerous tracks hitting the top of the charts, and with more releases to come this year, his disco groove train is gaining serious momentum. If you need a dose of proper funky disco house, Dafunkeetomato will have some ripe music for you - fresh for the picking.
