VERNON DOUGLAS

House and techno have been an obsession for Vernon since his musically formitive teenage years in the 1980s.
Collecting the sounds of hip hop, industrial music, early house, Detroit techno, and the Warp records sound
that came from the UK. Once he became immersed in the local underground culture, he made the life changing
decision to start his DJ career. He quickly became part of Vancouver's early party culture. These were hedonistic
events that celebrated unity, diversity, inclusiveness, and people being free to be themselves.
His journey style DJ sets are all things House, and feel familiar while being futuristic.
The tracks all have one thing in common—they bear a lineage back to Jack himself.
When you hear Vernon play, expect to hear a seasoned veteran with the true understanding of the craft of DJing.
His soundscape is an ecstatic dance party, energized with funk, soul and raw emotion.
In 2002 Vernon established his event series "Deepen" as a label, with a run of very successful vinyl releases.
Each release garnered critical acclaim, features and reviews in all of the top leading dance music publications
and support by integral DJ's and tastemakers from across the globe.
As a producer, he has contributed to such labels as OM, Woodwork Recordings, Fresh Meat Records(Chicago),
Evasive(UK) and on his own Deepen Discs imprint.
His 2023 collaboration with vocalist Tim Fuller under the "Soul Class" moniker has been released by
Germany's legendary house label- OnlyOne music for a limited exclusive vinyl release.
Currently, Vern can be found creating grooves in the studio, producing Deepen parties, and running the label.
