Another Ibadan Records improv session with alluring Brazilian flavour.
Jerome Sydenham, Joe Claussell (Body & Soul) and Kerri Chandler produced this adaptation of the Brazilian children's song Escravos de Jo. Guitarist Stephen Ulrich’s interpretation of Brazilian guitar was simply improvised on-the-fly over the rhythms. It is his completely spontaneous approach to a well-known musical style that makes the record so unique, giving it an irresistible allure that made it the record of the night back in the days of powder and wooden dance floors.
Producers: Jerome Sydenham, Joe Claussell, Kerri Chandler.
Guitar: Stephen Ulrich
Trumpet: Winston Byrd
Flute: Talib Kibwe
Percussion: Joe Claussel
