Award-winning Jazz Pianist Marc Cary debuts on Ibadan with a career boosting 12”.

Showcase for brilliant young talent Marc Cary, whose amazing jazz-oriented piano performance is backed here by a simple chord modulation, flute and sax. At the time, Cary was an up-and-coming musician already well on his way to achieving recognition for both his stunning solo work and his collaborations with the likes of Abbey Lincoln and Betty Carter. Enthusiastic cross-fertilization of musical styles and cultures being a strong part of Cary’s own vision, he was the ideal choice for this record, fusing dance rhythms with his distinctive signature jazz sound. Shortly after the release of Indigenous Music, Cary won Billboard’s award for best new jazz artist in 2000.
