Dis Cam Belie

Coco Bryce

Lowriders Recordings
LOW002 | 2011-02-28
The second Lowriders Recordings release comes courtesy of Lowriders Collective crew member Coco Bryce. Ever since his split 12" with Slugabed on Myor (Coco Bryce's label) he's been on the radar in beats country. Coco Bryce has a very distinguishable signature in his sound, which is best described as a mixture of synthetic funk, heavy bass and chopped hip hop beats with a strong dancefloor push. He has been on flyers with Noah D, Slugabed, Mesak, Randy Barracuda, Mweslee, SDUK and Bass Clef amongst others.

Dis Cam Belie is Coco Bryce's first solo ep and it brings us a varied view on the sound palette of this madman. Opener Supercalifragilistic balances between hip hop and dubstep with flares of 80's synths dipped in a loop that sticks in your mind. Metropolis, the collabo with Spanish rudeboy Niño, is a sharp-as-a-blade hip hop tune with skweee style layers of funky electro sounds in the sparkles and twinkles.
The B side kicks off with title track Dis Cam Belie: it's funky and as crazy as it ought to be. Skweee next level for sure. The 12" is finished by 1000names' remix of Supercalifragilistic. The bad boys from Sofia turn it into their own track. All the details are still there, but the way they flip it by adding some spices of their own to this boiling soup makes for some proper dancefloor madness.
