Strictly Rhythm starts the New Year as strongly as they ended the last with ‘Take It Easy’ from American born, Chicago-based, DJ and record producer Gershon Jackson. As an underground club DJ during the early 90s, Jackson was mentored by house music legends such as Ten City, Farley ‘Jackmaster’ Funk and Tyree Cooper, playing in the kind of smoke-filled, clandestine clubs that are evoked on ‘Take It Easy’. Leading the way, Sonny Fodera teams up with Mat.Joe for a remix that delivers the trademark bounce we’ve come to expect from these in-form producers. Eli Escobar’s interpretation employs a gentle acid lead, slowly evolving through deep, dreamy melodies while Mike Dunn’s Blackball Ezee Mix is a chunky, tightly wrought, affair that holds on to its patiently built tension.
