Probably one of Borrowed Music biggest releases to date. A very cool underground tech/deep house sounding track from the new production duo Basic Principle, who are causing a storm with their debut release on Borrowed.
Think Murk vibe's!

Basic Principle are production duo Damien Bailey & Richard Powell, who regular feature Rizwan Kayani on vocals. Both active on the house music scene for many years, it became a natural progression to start writing music together. They are a coming together of like minds. Bringing their experiences and ideas to the mix, to create an exciting new project. Heres a brief synopsis of Damien and Richards story leading up to this? Damien Bailey started out as a DJ with Leicester's Verbal and Babble Soundsystems and is a well-known face on the deep house scene. As a founder member of the production outfit Funky Transport with release on 20/20 vision, Ten lovers music and Brique rouge. He then went on to form Special Interest with Tom Latham of Smokescreen Sound System and label manager of Phobic records. The duo released tracks on renowned labels Mobile Trax, Guesthouse (USA), Tango (USA) and Phobic (UK), as well as having a track licensed for the Miguel Mig's compilation 'Get Salted'. Damien's name blew up big time with his rework of 'I like it' on Tango Recordings featuring the vocal talents of Elise Taylor, which was licensed to the compilation 'OM:Dubai'. Also so his follow up release on Tango Soul truth ft Riz and i-level (Richard Powell aka one half of Basic Principle), was remixed by Jonny Fiasco and was frequently played by Mark Farina etc. Other projects and remixes include tracks on Natural Rhythm music, Kolour recordings, Flavour Recordings, Connected Music, Purple Onion and Union. Through the music he's produced, Damien has had the opportunity to play across Europe and America. Richard began his musical journey in Nottingham, helping to set up and run the Quadrant Sound System. Formulated by a group of friends who shared a love of electronic music, Quadrant put on some well-respected house nights in Nottingham during the 90's/ early 00's. Included on the line up you would have found the likes of Ralph Lawson, Charles Webster, Asad Rizvi and Chris Duckenfield etc spinning tunes. Quadrant would eventually expand from Nottingham, putting on events all over the UK and Europe. A catalyst of this meant Richard also went on to guest DJ at various other promoted events across the country. It was a great experience for him. One which made him decide that he wanted to explore music further. So he purchased some studio gear, and along with some friends set up a recording studio. Ever since then he has been developing his trade. Enough so, that opportunities came up to put out his own music, under the names 'Joseki' and 'i-level'. Releases which have included a deep house track on Tango with Damien Bailey called Soul Truth, a project with Ben Leary called Siris on Yoruba Grooves, which received support from Richie Hawtin, and more recently tunes with Mark PF which have been played & supported by the likes of BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1 Extra and a host of DJs. Richard also finds the time to run his own house/techno record label called CForm (formerly Connect for Music). Alongside J Zizko, Richard has also recently been involved as a DJ and events promoter with Meme. Meme are most widely known for their monthly radio shows
