Why ask when you can insist?
Let’s Dance,
Come On
repeats the dark and ominous voice sampled on Tom Flynn’s premiere release on Vega Records, Let’s Dance. Sans the perfectly rhythmic musical accompaniment, the Pavlov-like oratory instruction would liken itself to a pesky night owl supplicating for your validation by dancing with them. Flynn’s tune is different. The sonic journey begins slowly, but the first wave of energy soon arrives and the tune begins to inspire and embolden- a sonic libation of sorts. The main melody then fully crystallizes, as the oratory instruction provides continual inspiration. Soon enough, all layers mix together like a perfectly crafted culinary cocktail. And then...you find yourself dancing.
The tune isn't a pest without hope, but rather a mature and seasoned creature of the night that gently insists with little to lose and soon becomes irresistible.
Let’s Dance,
Come On
is a simple, irrefutable directive. And you fully oblige. Tom Flynn, a child of nightlife, was raised in the U.K and listened to a lot of Motown
and Staxx. His focus at the time was really taken by disco as he was drawn to the driving rhythms of the genre. By the time he found House he was frequenting places like Miss Moneypennys, Bakers & Gods Kitchen to see people like Francois Kevorkian, Danny
Rampling, and of course MAW.
A DJ since the age of 12, a producer and engineer, Tom has released music with the world’s finest labels and his work constantly appears in the record boxes of Guy Gerber, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox, Dennis Ferrer, Richie Hawtin and Yousef. He has also been awarded both ‘Best Breakthrough Producer’ and ‘Essential New Tune’ accolades from Pete Tong. DJing highly esteemed clubs such as Sankeys (Ibiza), Verboten (New York), Smart Bar (Chicago), Circus (Liverpool & London), and a weekly radio show that gathers thousands of global listeners, Tom is on a journey that's in its infancy, producing House and Techno with a mission. The collaboration with Vega Records started with a 2013 DJ guest spot at “Little” Louie Vega’s Roots NYC night at Cielo, where Tom entertained the Roots crowd with a mix of wonderful deep house sounds and vibrant energy. Upon hearing Let’s Dance, which Tom submitted to Louie for the label, Vega knew the record would be a perfect release for Vega Records. The two then commissioned for remixes from Antonello Coghe & Garphie, (of Anane Vega & Antonello Coghe's label Nulu Music) as well as Agev Munsen. These artists have remixed and produced hot music for Vega Records in the past.
With Tom's original mixes and his A&G Dub plus the remixes of Antonello, Garphie and Agev, Vega adds, “This is sure to set some fire on the dance floors, I was convinced we had a great package for the release.”
Tom adds, “The inspiration [for Let’s Dance] came from hearing too many records that don't have the content or soul in. I grew up listening to records that had a meaning to them, records that made you remember them, and whereas now I feel like too many records are just beat records that have no meaning.”
