The first release for Z in 2009 is a new EP from the Sunburst Band which includes the eagerly awaited remixes of the politically minded track, 'Man of War'. First up Henrik Schwarz delivers a stripped back version of 'Man of War' using Pete Simpson's vocals to full effect over an eerie but soulful groove, cleverly utilizing the live strings from the original in the second half. The Henrik Schwarz Dub dispenses with the vocals for more of a deep ride. The Idjut Boys turn out an epic mix, making much use of the original breakdown section with a seriously funked up bassline, spiraling synths, and big brass stabs - coming over like a Norman Whitfield/Rose Royce outtake. ‘Man of War’ originally appeared on last years ‘Moving With The Shakers’ album and for this new remix EP Joey Negro has recorded his own extended disco mix. Dawn Tallman provides lead vocal on 'Everything's Gonna Be OK', a co-production with the Yam Who guys which is back on the soulful disco tip. Check the last minute or so when Dawn goes to church on us while the sax player lets rip. The final track is an extended version of the mid tempo electro boogie instrumental 'After Dusk' by the original producer Dave Lee/Joey Negro.
