Devoted Music is proud to present Dejavu, a collaboration between veteran vocalist & songwriter Cordell McClary & rising South African Producer, Dj, Flutist & Pianist Devoted.
On this piece, Devoted (Sakhile Mbatha) is spreading his musical wings by collaborating with the talented vocalist and songwriter Cordell McClary who contributes with his rhythmic vocals & meaningful lyrics, which compliments the beat and successfully creates a timeless soulful piece.
On this release, Devoted shows off his musical skills while maintaining a relationship with the dance-floor, a feature he has always aspired to live up to.
The Original version is smooth with Rhodes and bass line complimenting vocals by Cordell and creates provides the right melody to relate his story. On The Reprise version Devoted adds a melodic & percussive feel to to the pieces and cleverly placed vocals that not only make the piece a great reprise but as well as give a radio-friendly signature sound that Devoted aspires to bring forward with synths, Rhodes and rhythmic percussion.
The rendition of the vocals by Cordell captures a perspective of his experience of Deja vu while letting the listener run with their own imagination and interpret the lyrics from their own experiences of Dejavu. A soulful piece, Dejavu is set to relate to followers of soulful house while bringing in different tastes to accommodate the masses and the ordinary music listener.
Wanting to pursue a solo career for himself, Cordell connected with Super Producer / DJ Quentin Harris and would later record his debut single Traveling which became a world wide underground classic, winning Song of the Year Award at the Underground Archives Choice Awards.
With the release of several top ten international hits with production by Quentin Harris, Ron Trent and Steal Vybe, Cordell relentlessly took to the stage, after debuting at the Legendary Shelter in New York City; he has been traveling ever since.
Cordell began touring North America, Canada, Europe and Asia, and now South Africa performing alongside artist like Kenny Bobien, Julie Mcknight and Ultra Nate. In 2012 developments started with Devoted towards the piece Dejavu. Devoted: Cordell is a great songwriter and vocalist, so he inspired me to want to collaborate with him in future, now the future is here.
Devoted AKA Devoted African Child is a rising South African Music Producer, Pianist, Flutist and DJ who started off by playing flute in early 2000s and moved to music production in the mid-2000s. Despite having only released his first single in 2011, Soul on Fire featuring Kholi, Devoted had already been a notable producer by 2007, with some of his tracks becoming underground party anthems. This young producer aspires to make music that people in South Africa and internationally will appreciate. Having recently featured Kholi on Ngibizwa (released on Tribe Records UK) a masterpiece sung in isiZulu and English, Devoted successfully showed off his versatility. This year also saw collaboration with Mmelashon Jackson, which has also been well received. With that being said, its best to say that Devoted still has more to offer to music lovers.
