In a burst of summer enthusiasm MN2S is proud to present 'Could This Be Love by Duce Martinez and Stephanie Cooke. The track contains a heartfelt slice of Stephanie's subliminal vocals in a moving, tender delivery of pure, unadulterated soulful house. The package comes complete with remixes from Jon Cutler, Groove Assassin and Sir Piers.
Born in NYC's Spanish Harlem, Duce, as a child, migrated to Newark, NJ with his family. Duce became a part of the Fresh Fest Tour for 3 years, performing alongside such rap heavyweights as Run DMC, The FatBoys, Whodini, Grandmaster Flash and LL Cool J. While in the midst of his hip hop career, Duce found time to build his reputation in the dance music scene, taking cues from the A-list DJ's of the day, Hippie Torales, Tee Scott, Larry Levan, Tony Humphries, and David Morales. Duce's original mix provides a jumpy, jazzy foreground for the rest of the remixes. His Latin and Hispanic roots are clearly evident in a display of short, choppy, summery beats.
A multi-talented artist, Stephanie Cooke has just finished writing and co-producing her own album Everything released on King Street Sounds. Though she began writing secular music at the age of 25, her lyrics and style still remain true to her gospel roots. She keeps the flame of spirituality in house music burning strong. Stephanie's music provides the perfect combination of RnB and gospel vocal styling together with uplifting lyrics. 'Could This Be Love' is the perfect example of this.
Jon's remix exudes the classic garage style we are accustomed to from a man whose 10 years in the business have produced such hits as the hugely successful 'Its Yours' which commanded a host of remixes since its release in 2001 and 'Runnin'. With a deep relaxed bass, Jon's mix compliments Stephanie's vocals and a host of synths which tingle the top end.
Groove Assassin is Nick Moss the highly talented dj and producer who has been on the scene for over 17 years and has worked with a whole host of other record labels besides MN2S including Jellybean Soul , Tony Humphries's Tony Records , Home Records and Fall Out Records. Groove Assassin's mix places more emphasis on live instrumentals and souful vocal sounds adds up to a track with irresistible lure and a smooth, sweet edge.
Last but not least the work of Sir Piers brings this delightful package a finish. His memorable remixes for Mn2s as well as releases on Jive Electro, King Street and Purple Music have received widespread critical acclaim, it has been Piers' singles released on his home-grown imprint Curious that have really set tongues wagging. Club smashes such as 'Don't You Love Me' and 'Fool's Got Nothin'' featuring Monique Bingham have both enjoyed worldwide success. His remix of 'Could This Be Love' remains soulful whilst being slightly more percussive. His take on the track is slightly darker demonstrating an all together techier sounds whilst not stealing from the sweetness of the vocal.
