Those of you that have visited or DJ'ed in the townships aka 'Kasi' in South Africa have most certainly come across local Shisanayama's. In the Zulu language this literally means 'burn the meat' and it is where people get together and hold informal bar-b-cue's (or 'braai') in local Tavern's. This is accompanied by a musical pallete including a very specific kind of deep & soulful house. The sound is rounder, deeper, sometimes with a touch of jazz or a sprinkle of afro, and it is here where a lot of new underground releases, both vocal and non-vocal, get a platform to be heard and enjoyed.
