Deep soulful house.

Sophisticado Recordings presents The first release from Lee Pearson Jr Dont get no better love feat Aki Kwam'e.This project has all the makings of a soulful deephouse classic with remixes from two Chicago heavyweights Vick Lavender & Darren Brandon this is sure to please deep heads around the world.

A Chicago native and avid music aficionado, Lee has come forward to share his musical passion and on-going experience with the world. Designated the “family d.j. at age twelve, Lee often spent his free time spinning records during family gatherings, tinkering with stereo equipment, listening to his favorite music and reading album credits to learn whose who in the music industry. Solid in his knowledge of R&B, Rock and Soul, he discovered Disco and House music in high school and felt his immediate kinship. House music became Lee’s favorite and after a visit to the Warehouse Club on 201 S. Jefferson, where electrified audiences danced under strobe lights and booming sound system by resident d.j. Frankie Knuckles. Lee became mesmerized and solidified his love and passion for dance House music.

After his freshman year at Illinois State University , Lee took a summer job at a department store in Chicago allowing him to purchase his very own pitched tables, mixer and records. During that time, he worked on his mixing skills and programming songs. Returning to school that fall, Lee had equipment, new records, and a strong desire to rock the crowd. Coincidentally, a fraternity on campus hosted a “ Battle of the d.j.’s” and Lee won first place. Lee’s remaining years in college he became the favorite d.j. for parties and the campus radio station. After college, Lee realized his need for substantial income, so he joined the corporate sector and gave away his prized possession to a family member who showed interest to learn how to d.j.

Never losing his passion for House music, Lee constantly attended various parties. And one day met producer, Riley Evans. During their conversation, Riley explained that he was currently working on album project for Ricky Dillard. Lee not having any experience in writing eventually convinced Riley to give him a chance to create lyrics for a particular track which caught his interest. Riley obliged and Lee left with a profound instinct and returned with colorful lyrics of a personal experience. Riley loved his creativity and the song was titled “This Kind Of Lovin” which ended-up being recorded for Ricky Dillard’s debut house music album. Larry Heard was then hired to produce the entire Ricky Dillard album and Lee gained additional writing opportunities through “house music pioneer” Larry Heard.

While brainstorming for lyrics on a track received from Larry Heard, Lee’s best friend, Erwin “Mac” McEwen came over and approached Lee about his writing technique. Mac understood Lee’s approach and offered his lyrical ideas. They knew immediately their styles complimented each other and a writing partnership was born. Lee Pearson and Erwin McEwen contributed to several Larry Heard productions, such as: “On A Corner Called Jazz”, on Heard’s MCA label debut “Mr. Fingers, album titled “Introduction”. In addition to Larry Heard, Pearson and McEwen have also wrote for successful Chicago music producers like Marshall Jefferson, Ron Trent, and Chez Damier to name a few.

Over the years Pearson and McEwen have compiled a library of good songs which they hope to
release near future. But in the meantime, Pearson was eager to please the global House music lovers and decided to move forward and release his solo project under the moniker: “Lee Pearson, Jr. Project” featuring Aki Kwam’e on vocals. The new release, “Don’t Get No Better Love”, demonstrates Pearson’s positive vibe and dedicated commitment to quality as solo artist or with like minded team members.
