Brendon, aka Beat Pharmacy, takes us into the deep zone on this sublime new offering. Best described as a synthesis of dub, minimal techno, psy-trance, jazz and afrobeat, his fusion of different styles has set Brendon apart from others in this genre of club music. As the opening tune from his last album Constant Pressure, this uplifting song "Club Dread" was re-touched by Brendon himself, who has reformed it into a spacey, jazz-ambient excursion.
The Harmonic Mix on side A takes the original a few notches deeper”with minimal house beats and the Pharmacy's dub inspired melodic play. Quite simple in its approach, the dreamy reinterpretation will clear your head of all that inner-city clutter so that you can enjoy the underwater FX washes and light, jazzy organ play. Crisp, clean and sharp in many ways, the laid-back track is overwhelmingly cheery and meditative.
As the Sub-Harmonic mix opens, techno strings point to an altogether different approach. This mix takes Club Dread to astounding futuristic heights. The ambience and rumbling dub sub basslines hark back to classic Orb releases, but it's the click noise percussion counting off in the background that will entrance listeners to take a timeless and blissful head trip. This mix is a different beast altogether that can be appreciated apart from the already exceptional original.
