Swingkid a.k.a. Magnus Palmquist has been releasing music for years, most notably under the guise Polyphonics. Since winning a scholarship for classical guitar aged 12, Swingkid has evolved into a producer, songwriter, DJ and multi-instrumentalist. Oh, and he also happens to be the head booking agent for Swedens biggest jazz venue, Fasching, providing him with the perfect source of talent to feature in his production work.
For the last five years he has been working on his vision of completing an album with the most talented people around him in Stockholm, and the result is his incredible debut This Electric Life.
Spring Break Muscles is the first single taken off the album and features the vocal talents of Anthony Mills over a trademark Swingkid electronic soul groove. This is backed by Show Me Your Smilefeaturing Andreas Cavaco and a sick electro-funk beat.
Theres no genre to correctly describe This Electric Life since it fuses many elements from different parts of the world, but inspiration can be traced from the gritty, raw, twisted beats of Detroit to the new era of jazzy soul sounds from Berlin, the broken-beat of London, all the way back to the ancestors of the Brazilian bossa and the Nigerian afro-funk. The simple recipe is outstanding melodies, superior quality in crispy sounds and swingin unique rhythms that provoke movement of feet! |
