One51Recordings returns after a couple of years of downtime while labels bosses Danny Jones and Richard Earnshaw have tirelessly worked on the output for their 2 other labels, Duffnote and Guess. Already enjoying much support from its original release on Guess back in 2007 as part of the “Give Love EP”, and its inclusion on One51's “Bridge & Divide EP”, Swedish producer Magnus Wallberg re-introduces “Breaking New Ground”. With this package of remixes including Richard Earnshaw, Undertone and Miles Borrero, the unique vibe of the original now has it's long awaited full release. Already included on One51's 2009 WMC Miami sampler, the Undertone remix takes thing back with a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Undertone, aka Ed Melconian, employs raw beats, gritty Rhodes and sub bass, coupled with some intuitive arranging. A brief look at Undertone's history with see artists as diverse as Barbara Tucker and Gene Kelly, through to Mood II Swing and Lucy Pearl all receiving Ed's treatment. Ed released his first record in 1993 off the back of the Sunday Sessions mix series, and his passion for House music hasn't stopped since. Undertone's debut EP Sexy Thing gained support around the world for its nostalgic beats. Remixes for The Migrants (I Thought That, Apollo) and Izmo (Blue Light, Little Angel Records) have begun to spread the word that 90's deep House is back with a new twist. Label owner and prolific musician/producer Richard Earnshaw lends a few tweaks to give the Undertone remix a few “Earnshawisms”, adding some extra drums, organ bass line and re-arranging things a little. New boy in the fold, Miles Borrero captures the very essence of the One51 sound with his live, gritty drums and jazz influenced instrumentation, drafting in the skills of classically renowned trumpeter Fraser Tannock (National Symphony Orchestra and European Chamber Opera to name a few) for some wonderfully improvised soloing. A simple yet effective mix, dishing out plenty of poolside vibes for the summer ahead.
