Kolonki Recordings is immensely proud to announce the new project “SAMBERIA”, run by label owner Peter Shallmin together with the brazilian native artist from UK, mr. Pedro Martins.
The talent of Maestro Martins and his rich musical background as composer, singer, guitarist and percussionist is recognized in many projects like Oba-Brasil, Da Lata, Azymuth, Joyce, Les Etoiles, Bah Samba, Jazzanova among others. His musical perfectionism & dynamic vision of the future of Brazilian music was embodied in creating Bazeado - the live ensemble that tastefully mixes traditional rhythms such as the Maracatu, Baiao, Bossa Nova, Samba and Batucada with modern dance sounds in order to achieve their unique forward-looking style… Being an expert, Mr. Martins has inhaled the real Brazilian soul & fire into Peter’s musical line. Another point which makes “SAMBERIA” absolutely priceless is the participation of the true legend, a Master funk musician, Mr. NICK VAN “Groove” GELDER - the architect of the JAMIROQUAI sound, who composed & recorded space funk classics like “Too Young To Die”, “Blow Your Mind” and “Emergency on Planet Earth”, and played on drums/guitars/keys on records with JK and on many tours through years, the man behind the Space Rock & Acid Jazz supergroups “Ozric Tentacles”, “Akimbo” not to mention countless gigs, sessions, and jams with different artists like Vannessa Simon, Omar, Ohm, FBI, Raw Deal, The Superphonics, Andy Lewis. His contribution is the top-class remix of “Volte” - the right touch in the balance between groovy latin funk & space jazz. The participation of such eminent talents is an unique coup for “SAMBERIA” and it's representative of their cutting-edge attitude.
