This song has a distant, delicate mood that glides along and keeps the feet moving. The ethereal groove is based around the pulsing clave rhythm in the kick drum while quiet polyrhythms build over it. A tasteful jazzy piano solo navigates this spacious production, bringing you from the drama of swelling cymbals to subtle bird chirps while Aki's otherworldly vocals hover lightly over the music.

Bones and Balo offer another understated and gentle groove. The basic beat leaves plenty of space, creating a soothing kind of tension, an undercurrent of energy that never loses its cool. Aki's vocals drift in and out in the distance, adding to the mood without cluttering the sound. A sparse bass line creeps under the track adding a classy punch to the mix's power, while a persistent synth wobbles in and out of the percussive soundscape.
About the Artists
Tommy Bones has been spinning his signature blend of deep house, nujazz, soul/disco classics and afro/brazillian beats since he was 14 years old. Tommy is quickly emerging as one of the city's most up-and-coming house producers and dropping this record as his first release on Wave. Louie Balo is one of the most prolific producers around. Made famous by his 'bitch' tracks with legendary diva Roxy in the 80s, he showed his soulful side when he produced the underground hit "Love Commandments" for Gisele Jackson. This is his second release on Wave Music (after The Ride Committee featuring Roxy's 'Curtains For You'). |
